Lemgo, 22 August, 2024

In its anniversary year 2023, the Brasseler Group achieved a record result with sales growth of 6 % and consolidated sales of EUR 226.3 million. In the first half of 2024, turnover almost stagnated at the previous year’s level. Developments in the business segments vary.

Developments in the business segments
The Komet Medical division, a supplier to leading medical technology companies in the field of neuro and orthopedic surgery, recorded an impressive growth of over 6% compared to the previous year, which also saw an excellent level of sales. The main driver for this is the business with US customers, which highlights Brasseler’s strong market position in this segment.

At the beginning of the year, the “Dental Implantology” division was merged with Komet Medical. This division is currently facing challenges due to shortages in the supply of special raw materials. This led to a decline in sales of -16 % at the end of the first half of the year. The division has been identifying and qualifying alternative sources since the end of last year in order to stabilize the supply chain and secure future growth. In medical technology, the qualification of new suppliers always takes a considerable amount of time due to the high requirements.

The Group’s largest division, Komet Dental, recorded a slight increase in sales of 2 %. Stephan Köhler, Chairman of the Management Board, assumed overall responsibility for Komet Dental at the beginning of the year and Carsten Cieslik took over the management of the division.

“Since then, we have launched strategic initiatives. We expect to see the first positive effects in the fourth quarter of 2024,” says Köhler.

The “Rotary instruments for the jewelry industry” segment, which is not part of the medical technology sector, also performed weaker than in the previous year. This sector is traditionally more dependent on the global economic situation.

Outlook – Brasseler continues to expand its market position
The company expects sales to improve slightly in the second half of 2024. The latest forecast suggests that turnover will exceed the previous year’s level.

The Brasseler Group remains determined to continue its long-term initiatives and investments in order to achieve its strategic, strongly internationally oriented goals and further expand its market position.

“With the timely completion of a new production building with over 6,000 square meters of space, we have reached a significant milestone at the Lemgo site,” says Mr. Köhler. “This modern building creates the conditions for the next stage of excellent digital value creation.”
