Big anniversary: Brasseler celebrates 100 years
Lemgo, 15.05.2023
“100 Years of Preparation for Tomorrow” – Under this motto, Brasseler has come up with a multitude of ways to celebrate our anniversary year: celebrations at the different company locations all over the world, fundraising campaigns, sponsoring a music festival in OWL, a new image film, an anniversary celebration with themed worlds from 100 years of company history, and the ceremony in the presence of the owner family.
We celebrated our 100th anniversary with a festive ceremony on May 12. Around 120 invited guests from politics, business and science traveled to the Old Hanseatic City of Lemgo to celebrate “100 Years of Preparation for Tomorrow” together with us.
Among the guests of honor were Markus Baier, Mayor of Lemgo, Deputy District Administrator of the Lippe district, Volker Steinbach, the President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Lippe zu Detmold and Dr. Markus Heibach, Managing Director VDDI
In his opening speech, Mayor Markus Baier praised the excellent partnership with Brasseler, the company’s importance as one of the largest employers in the region and its pronounced social and sustainable commitment.
Kirsten Niehus and Anke Niehus, main shareholders and representatives of the owner family, provided very personal and exciting insights into the extraordinary history of the company, which began in 1923: Their grandfather Peter Brasseler founded a “dental drill factory” in the backyard of his private house in Düsseldorf with great courage and foresight. The pioneer had great visions, which he was determined to implement, for example, the introduction of a direct distribution system, which was a completely new and unprecedented concept at that time. Since its foundation, the healthy growth of the company has been based on value-based actions – this is what the company management still stands for today.
Now the 4th generation of the entrepreneurial family is ready to be introduced to its future responsibilities.
Stephan Köhler, Spokesman of the Management Board, explained in his speech: “Our ambition is to set standards in the field of dental and bone treatment as a global player” and emphasized: “It’s people who make the difference”. “This self-image”, he said, “is also reflected in our desire leave our comfort zones. “We are broadening our horizon, recognizing opportunities and taking on challenges. From successfully overcoming them, we draw positive energy.”
We look to the future with optimism, strength and solidarity: Our goals remain a continued healthy growth, economic independence and offering all employees worldwide secure and interesting jobs and prospects. At the same time, we stay true to our roots in our home region: the laying of the foundation stone for a further building on the company premises last week illustrates the strategic development of value creation at the Lemgo site.
These and other aspects were addressed in more detail during lively talks at the ceremony. Managing Director Klaus Rübesamen moderated talks on the topics of innovation and developments in dentistry. Björn Hartmann, Head of HR, provided detailed insights into the corporate culture during informative chats with Brasseler employees.
Students from the Detmold University of Music were in charge of the musical entertainment at the ceremony. The audiovisual highlight was the premiere of our new Brasseler image film. During the subsequent networking, the guests had the opportunity to exchange ideas and raise a glass to 100 years of Brasseler.
Markus Baier, Mayor of Lemgo:
“The Old Hanseatic City of Lemgo extends its warmest congratulations on the company’s 100th anniversary and is pleased that we have been able to provide a home for a world market leader for around 80 years. With around 1,200 employees, Brasseler is not only one of our largest employers, but also has a great social and sustainable awareness and is committed to social issues, sports, the district and our volunteer fire department. We will be happy to continue this excellent partnership cooperation, which is always focused on the future of the company and the city, for many decades or even centuries to come!”
Volker Steinbach, President of IHK Lippe zu Detmold:
“Here in Lemgo, Brasseler stands for exactly what makes our region strong and distinctive: The company is an impressive example of a family business that, as a hidden champion, sells innovative products worldwide. As a major employer in the region, the company is an important pillar for the economy. It is a prime example of our strong business location. I am also particularly grateful for the close ties with the Lippe Chamber of Industry and Commerce – from audit committees to active participation in our plenary assembly.”
